Trip Advisor April 26, 2009 "We just returned from a five-night stay at the Vendue Inn. First, the hotel location was perfect. It was a block from the beautiful Waterfront Park so every morning I got up early, got my coffee which is set up beautifully in the library, and walked out to the park and harbor. It was also a great location from which to explore all the highlights of Charleston. A very plentiful breakfast with menu service was served in one of two rooms every morning. It was very good with quite a few choices. Our rooms were good-sized with very nice toiletries and soaps, bathrobes and very quiet air conditioning. The bed was big and had a very soft pillow top which might not be the best for some people but it was fine for us. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. I especially want to single out the General Manager, Sue, who went way out of her way to talk to every guest and make sure they were satisfied. She even offered to lend us her car when we had trouble finding a rental in town! They offer wine and snacks late in the afternoon which was also an elegant and nice touch. And to top it off, freshly baked cookies and milk were served at night! Bikes were available free of charge which we also used one afternoon. A nice way to get around the Battery. On the roof there is a bar and restaurant offering light fare. It was a relaxing place to get a drink and relax from all the walking."

"Our second stay and we'll be back. We couldn't imagine a better place to stay. The room was clean and wonderfully decorated. We were treated like royalty in every way and the cruiser bikes where a great way to see Charleston without getting too worn out. From the staff, to the room condition to the full southern breakfast, the Vendue Inn is unparalleled in our minds."
Patrice S. Williamson, January 8, 2010. Comment Card "I came to your establishment for my birthday and will definately return in the future. The staff was excellent and I am kicking myself for not remembering names because everyone who worked from Jan 8th - 10th deserves praise. In particular, there was a woman with blond hair who was very friendly, she greeted me by name & wished me a happy birthday the first time she saw me. She was on duty at breakfast on the 9th & 10th. Also, we requested some toothpaste on the evening of January 8th and before my boyfriend could hang up the phone a staff member was knocking on our door with the toothpaste. Amazingly fast service. You will see me again, hopefully soon when the weather is a little warmer. And I'm going to recommend this hotel as a location for an annual getaway that I take with my girlfriends from college. Keep up the good work.
Greg, December 23, 2009. Comment Card Review : "We had a very remarkable stay over the Christmas holiday. The service was impeccable from everyone beginning the moment we arrived and continued throughout our stay. Unfortunately, we don't remember all the names but obviously the staff is very well versed in Southern hospitality. Adam in the Library restaurant and Glenn in Concierge Services were superlative, gracious and most welcoming as was all the staff. The hostesses in the restaurant were most accommodating and the front desk was great when our little dog threw a fit in the room (again, we apologize for the inconvenience). This is truly a pet-friendly hotel and not just pet-tolerable! The Southern-style breakfast was great every morning and certainly not massed-produced (highly recommend the cheese-grits)! The food in the Library was absolutely exquisite and a gastronomical delight. The wine and cheese reception was a great addition although the cookies and milk at night were pleasantly sinful. We loved having hot coffee, cider and hot cocoa available throughout the day, especially considering the weather. A stay of 4 nights was not nearly long enough given how we were pampered. The price was very reasonable, even without the daily breakfast, wine, cookies and superlative service. We visited 3 other high-end restaurants during our stay but none compared to the Library (perhaps except for Hank’s). This is a most exceptional inn and we will definitely return on our next visit to Charleston. Most highly recommend!! "
Trip Advisor. December 30, 2009 "We were busy booking our 2nd anniversary trip, when we started reminiscing about our first to the Vendue Inn.
The staff, the food, the service, the rooms, and all the little things they do make your stay absolutely amazing! We loved the complimentary wine and cheese upon arrival, and the cookies before bed was special also. We also ate at the restaurant which was cozy and fancy at the same time. We'll never our trip to the Vendue Inn, and I can't say that about any other hotel in my life."
Trip Advisor. December 10, 2009. "This was our 2nd time visiting the Vendue Inn. It certainly won't be our last. Charming, beautiful and in the heart of the city. A great restaurant on site and very cool bar on the roof top. Top that with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub in our room, and you can't do any better. The staff really goes out of there way to make you feel at home. Top marks."
Trip Advisor. December 8, 2009. "My husband and I just returned from 4 nights at the Vendue Inn. From check-in to check-out our stay there could not have been better. ALL of the staff are wonderfully accommodating and hospitable. Each one showed a genuine interest in making our stay there and in Charleston ejoyable. The hotel has old-world charm and is perfectly located for touring and dining. Glen the concierge will provide recommendations as well as just enough hisotry to intrigue, talented Chef Sara spent time chatting with us after preparing a first-rate dinner. She even timed it so that we can stroll around the block midway through (at our request) - breakfasts are also not to be missed. Rembering that my husband loved the saussage gravy, our server ran out as we were checking out to ask if we would like to take some home. Take a free bike provided by the Inn for a ride around the city, return for wine at cheese reception in late afternoon, and don't pass up the cookies and milk in the evening. We know we will be back in the not so distant future."
Cindy. November 8, 2009. Comment Card Review. "I am sorry to say...I don't remember their names but the front desk "team" was exceptional!! They remembered your name and made us feel at home. There was a young lady and gentleman (he just got engaged if that helps) who are a great team. They are keepers. I have been in the been in the service industry for many years and you don't get any better then your team. We really enjoyed the rooftop bar. The bartenders (Friday night) were great. Very welcoming and they made us the best martini!!! I will come back for more. they also gave us great suggestions on where to go and what to do. I can't think of anything negative to say. You and your team at the Vendue Inn are great and I would be happy to tell anyone. Thank you again for such an incredible time. Girls weekend was great!!! and you also played a big part in that. Thanks again. Cindy P.S. I also have to say Glen is great. I forgot about him while writing but who could ever forget about him....hahaha he was so welcoming and would go OUT OF HIS WAY to make you happy. WOW what a team."
Sears. October 25, 2009. Comment Card Review. "Everyone we came into contact with was outstanding! This ranged from the front desk to the breakfast staff to the Bell/Valet. I have stayed in many (more than 8) Charleston Historic District Hotel/Inns over the past 10-12 years and my recent experience at The Vendue Inn makes it #1 on our list.
McCall. August 28, 2009. Comment Card Review. "had drinks at sunset on the rooftop bar, wonderful music, delightful waitress, and a dynamite mojito. Every individual we met - at the front desk, in the rooms, at the curb, was delightful and welcoming, intelligent and capable. Truly a remarkable accomplishment of team building by your HR staff."
Dingus. August 24, 2009. Comment Card Review "This was our first stay at an Inn of this sort so we really didn’t know what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised and look forward to another opportunity to stay at the Vendue Inn."

Our visit to Charleston was enhanced simply by staying at the Vendue Inn. It felt like home with someone else doing all the work!!!"

Flip Flop. July 19, 2009. Trip Advisor Review. "When we arrived at the Vendue Inn we were excited right away. The exterior was beautiful and it was a great start to our first trip to Charleston. Check in was a breeze and we were upgraded to a fireplace room. Everyone we encountered at check in was beyond friendly and welcoming. Our room was in a building across the street. The room itself was beautiful decorated and appointed. My favorite part was the bed. It was definitely one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and the choices quite numerous. The location of the hotel was also excellent, within walking distance of everything we needed. We hope to stay again soon and highly recommend it to anyone considering staying there.
Aah123. July 18, 2009. Trip Advisor Review. " This hotel was great! I went with extended family for my great-grandmother's birthday bash. The rooms were gorgeous and well appointed. If you're looking for a "Charleston-esque" hotel, this is an excellent choice.
Robertson78. June 25, 2009. Trip Advisor Review. " I surprised my husband with a one night birthday trip to Charleston and found the Vendue Inn through a Google search. I picked it because I found the best price there and feel like I got a great deal based on the entire experience. The entire time, we were treated like royalty even though we were staying in their least expensive room (which was amazing). I would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly be returning. By far the best value for any hotel I've ever stayed.
DTrav19. July 06, 2009. Trip Advisor Review. " The Vendue Inn exceeded all of our expectations. After spending our days marveling at the stately facades of Charleston's artfully preserved homes--with their ivied brick walls and palmetto-shaded gardens--it was a treat to spend the night inside one of them. The rooms were not only beautiful, but also achieved a near perfect balance between elegance and comfort. This is a rare achievement considering the Inn's commitment to creating historically inspired interiors that immediately transport you back to the antebellum South. Antique furnishing and artwork blended seamlesslyl with modern comforts, not to mention the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Complimentary sherry on the nightstand provided the perfect end to Charleston's balmy unavoidably charming days.
Even better than the rooms was the service. From the moment we pulled our car up to the moment we put our bags back in the trunk, the friendly staff at the Vendue Inn made us feel at home. They went above and beyond the call of duty--the bellman practically doubled as concierges with their perfect restaurant recommentdations--without making us feel uncomfortably spoiled. True Southern Hospitality.
Downtown Charleston, S.C. Hotel Reviews. “I’ve stayed at the Vendue on several occasions. Each time I’ve found the hotel to be more charming than the last. My recent visit was perhaps the best. I reserved a junior suite in the building across the street from the main hotel entrance. The room was fantastic…I’m already planning my next trip to Charleston and I’m going to stay at the Vendue!”

“The bed was absolutely amazing! I toss and turn constantly at home and did not move an inch from the time my head hit the pillow until I woke up the next morning. The room was gorgeous and the staff is absolutely fabulous.”
