Spring time is fast approaching to the Holy City of Charleston SC and the air smells of fresh new buds blossoming in the gardens of Charleston. Upon your arrival to The Vendue Inn a hardcopy of Charleston Architecture and Interiors will be yours as a guide and keepsake to provide insight to the homes and gardens of the places you will visit during your stay. Along with your three night four day stay in a King Junior Suite or Fireplace King , you will receive two passes to enter four of Charleston's National Historic Landmark homes.
The Heyward Washington House, built in 1772 by revolutionist Thomas Heywardm,a signer of The Declaration of Independence, and temporary home of visiting President George Washington.
The Federal style Joseph Manigault House, built in 1803, for his wealthy rice-planting family, was designed by his brother Gabriel Manigault who also designed several other prominant Charleston landmarks.
The 1820 Aiken-Rhett House stands as the most intact townhouse displaying urban life in antebellum Charleston.
The Nathaniel Russell House, with formal spacious gardens and its graceful interior is one of America's most important neoclassical dwellings. The magnificent free-floating staircase & elaborate plasterwork has been admired by visitors since 1808.
Also included with your stay is an afternoon tour with Architectural Walking tours of Charleston, an informative and delightful stroll past cobblestone streets highlighting Charleston's significant buildings including the Circular Church, Hibernian Hall, the Fireproof Building and the Four Corners of Law. The tour of nineteenth century architecture along Meeting Street and The Battery features Federal, Greek Revival and Victorian architecture and ends in White Point Gardens.
This package is available from March 1 through May 31. It also coincides with the Historic Charleston Foundation's Home & Garden Tour which runs March 18 thru April 17, if you are visiting during these days please go to www.historiccharleston.org to view it's Calendar of Events that may be available during your stay. These tours change daily and sell out quickly so we are not able to procure tickets on your behalf.
