Antebellum Mansions

The largest private residence in Charleston, the Calhoun Mansion offers 35 rooms, including a grand ballroom, along with a Japanese water garden.

Built in 1808, the Nathaniel Russell House presents neoclassical beauty to the public. Period antiques and elegant works of art adorn the walls of this mansion.

Once used to house George Washington, the Heyward-Washington House was built in 1772 and features authentic hand-made furniture, including the famous Holmes Bookcase.

This beautiful house overlooks the picturesque Charleston Harbor. Built in 1825, the house has since become a popular museum to visit due to its amazing views.
Plantations

A sweeping estate, the Middleton-Place Plantation is home to manicured gardens, creating a private paradise; the main building itself offers a glimpse into plantation life.

Built in 1676, the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is the oldest public tourist destination in Charleston and lets visitors step back through centuries of history.

The Drayton Hall Plantation offers an authentic early America experience. The owners have painstakingly tried to preserve the house, showcasing Georgian-Palladian architecture.

One of the most photographed plantations in America, Boone Hall features an iconic approach of evenly spaced live oak trees, creating the quintessential plantation scene.
